Some Holiday Cheer (A Christmas Carol)
--------------------------------------------------------
Here I sit again, cozy, all alone.
The room is filled with pretty lights, and the Christmas tree's aglow.
And the sound of silver bells is ringing softly through the snow.
I drink my wine and wonder if anyone will notice when I go.
So I pour myself another way to disappear,
and I'll sit by the fire, a silent night with no one here.
It's Christmas, my favorite time of year.
I wish I had someone, somebody near.
But I didn't do it right, so I'll just turn out the lights.
Yeah it's Christmas, and I'll drink to that tonight.
Why is it there's always one bulb burned out on the string?
I broke an ornament when I dropped it reaching down to get my drink.
And I hear the sound of children outside making noise and caroling.
So I wander down the hall, lean against the wall, and do my best to sing.
And I pour myself another way to disappear,
so I'll sit by the fire, a silent night with no one here.
Oh yeah, it's Christmas, my favorite time of year.
I wish I had someone, some holiday cheer.
But I didn't do it right, so I'll just turn out the lights.
It's Christmas, and I'll drink to that tonight.
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way,
I'll cross the river, give 'em hell, but I can't drive a sleigh.
So I'll lie here on the floor, and maybe fall asleep and, hey,
when I wake up it won't be Christmas, it'll just be another day.
It's Christmas, my favorite time of year.
I wish I had someone, some holiday cheer.
But I didn't do it right, so I'll just turn out the lights.
It's Christmas, and I'll drink to that tonight.
